Our story
The original idea for Makay was just a place to create a post art, but it quickly turned into something else that could be enjoyed by anyone who visited the brand. From the first sale on RedBubble, to eventually creating, printing, and cutting her own stickers, Alyssa's journey has been one of non-stop growth and passion.
Alyssa
Alyssa began her artistic journey when she was very young by getting involved in band, choir, theatre, languages, and other fine arts. While she dabbled in arts and crafts and always had a knack for DIY projects, it wasn't until she was around 12 years old that she started exploring art more. Alyssa took up painting and continued to design throughout middle and high school before starting the Makay brand when she entered college. She graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in Victim Studies with a double minor in Sociology and American Sign Language.
In May of 2023, she will be graduating with a Masters degree from Sam Houston State University in Victim Services Management. Alyssa is so excited for the future and to see where Makay can go!
